Applying for your pension through the VA can be a tricky process. That’s why AVCC helps veterans prepare their paperwork before they apply for VA pension benefits. We help access benefits for disabled veterans so they can access home care services.
How to Get Veterans Benefits
At AVCC, we can help you determine which pension rates you are eligible for, and we can also help you put the paperwork together when you apply for it. For instance, a veteran must meet the following requirements to receive a VA pension. They must:
- Have served at least 24 months or the full active duty period they were called to serve if they entered active duty after Sept. 7, 1980.
- Served at least one day during a wartime period.
- Be age 65 or older
- Be totally and permanently disabled, OR
- Be a patient receiving skilled nursing care in a nursing home, OR
- Receiving Social Security Disability Insurance, OR
- Receiving Supplemental Security Income.
If you meet these qualifications, we can begin working with you to determine your pension rate and the services you qualify for.
VA Pension Rates in 2019
The VA has laid out the pension rates for 2019, and we can help you determine which ones apply to you. Right now, the most general pensions are as follows:
Annual Maximum for a Veteran: $13,535
Annual Maximum for a Veteran with One Dependent: $17,724
Annual Maximum for Two Married Veterans: $17,724
These pension rates can become higher if you qualify for Aid and Attendance. They can become lower if you have a child who works. We have the knowledge and the resources to help you figure out which maximum annual pension rate fits your qualifications and your situation.

What Kind of Benefits Can Your Receive with Your Pension?
After we help you receive your pension, you can use those funds for home care services. What are home care services? They include unskilled services where care providers perform tasks such as bathing and grooming, light housekeeping, cooking and meal preparation, medication reminders, and shopping. After we help you put your application in at the VA and it’s processed, we can begin pairing you with home care service provider who will perform all these services and more. We pair veterans with home care providers because we want veterans to lead successful lives and we want the providers to gain a solid clientele base.
