How AVCC Connects Veterans With Home Care Benefits
At AVCC, our mission is clear—we are dedicated to assisting Veterans in accessing the crucial Veterans affairs benefits they need to lead successful lives. Simultaneously, we extend our hand to home care providers, aiding them in finding the clients who need their invaluable services. We stand beside both Veterans and home care providers, guiding them towards mutual success with an unwavering commitment.
Who We Are
American Veterans Care Connection is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other teams across the nation to ensure comprehensive home care services for Veterans. Our primary objective is to enable Veterans with home health aide services, specifically those with connected disability status, to enjoy the comfort and safety of their homes as much as possible.
Our Approach to Working With Veterans and Care Providers
About 1.4 million Veterans are nursing home eligible but prefer to live in their homes—a choice that the AVCC wholly supports. That’s why our primary objective is to bridge the gap between home care providers and Veterans who depend on their services for a fulfilling life. Our mission involves ensuring Veterans gain access to the benefits they need while expanding the reach of care providers and making potential clients aware of their offerings. We also extend our support to spouses and surviving spouses, ensuring they receive VA home care benefits alongside Veterans.
AVCC Simplifies Every Step
When we collaborate with Veterans, our first step is to assist them in preparing the necessary paperwork to access vital VA resources, including Aid and Attendance benefits and other long-term care services. We meticulously organize all paperwork, leaving no room for omissions or errors, ensuring the seamless approval of their benefits. Navigating the VA benefits application process can be complex, but we simplify it, granting Veterans and their families peace of mind in knowing that the path to obtaining Veterans benefits has become smoother.
Following this, we connect Veterans with care providers capable of delivering a wide array of extended and respite home care services. These services encompass essential tasks, such as:
- Cooking and Meal Preparation
- Medication Reminders
- Bathing and Grooming
- Light Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Shopping
Empowering Home Care Providers
If you are a care provider aspiring to become a home care provider for Veterans, AVCC is here to guide you through the process. We often find that for every Veteran unaware of the care they need, there is a home care service company missing out on a crucial segment of potential clients. When we welcome a provider into our Veterans home care family, we leverage our resources to increase their visibility and raise awareness among potential clients.
The tools and resources we offer Veterans and their families lay the foundation for successful relationships between clients and providers. These partnerships are instrumental in helping Veterans meet their daily needs and lead fulfilling lives.
Are you or a Veteran in need of long-term care? Figuring out the right place and process can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Find the support you need.
Understanding Aid and Attendance (A&A)
One of AVCC’s key roles is to raise awareness of the Aid and Attendance benefit for wartime Veterans and their surviving spouses. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already be receiving a VA pension, and they need to meet certain criteria:
- Medical Need: Applicants must require assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, eating, or managing a disability or illness that confines them to bed or renders them housebound.
- Income Limits: Veterans’ income and net worth must fall below specified thresholds to be eligible for A&A benefits. However, the program considers medical expenses when calculating income, potentially increasing eligibility.
- Service Requirements: Veterans must have served at least 90 days of active duty, with at least one day during a wartime period. The discharge must be other than dishonorable.
As determining qualifications from this set of eligibility requirements may be difficult for some, AVCC is here to guide Veterans, their surviving spouses, and caretakers through the intricate application process.
