Like all companies, AVCC has an origin story. It all began when founder Jeanne Asher looked for Veterans benefits for her father in his later years. Since that time, she and the rest of our team have helped Veterans all across the country receive VA Aid & Attendance benefits for home care services.
AVCC’s Humble Roots
Jeanne Asher was a registered nurse working for a home care company when she began searching for funding sources to help her father receive home care services. Her father had served in the Korean War, so she began looking for Veteran-related home care funding. Unfortunately, she searched fruitlessly for a long time. During this period, Jeanne realized that it’s difficult for many elderly Veterans to receive the benefits they’re eligible for and that there’s a large gap in financial aid for seniors who are too well-off for Medicaid but struggle to afford home care or health services.
In addition, Jeanne knew from her work experience that many home care companies needed clientele. Because she also knew that many Veterans needed home care services and the funds to pay for them, she started AVCC to meet these three needs.

How AVCC Operates
AVCC helps Veterans access VA benefits they can put toward home care, and we pair the Veterans with home care service providers. We also screen Veterans to see if they are eligible for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit, which pays out and supplements their basic pension to help them pay for home care services.
For Veterans, AVCC acts as a third-party advocate and fills out the application and tracks it through the process until it is approved. We also have a VA-accredited attorney on staff who verifies the initial application before we submit it for consideration. We monitor the application process closely to make sure your application clears any hurdles in its way on the path to approval.
For providers, we offer training and tools that help them prepare to meet Veterans’ home care needs. We also help you get the word out about your home care services so you can grow your clientele base.
Why Work With AVCC?
If you’re a Veteran or a Veteran’s family member, you may be wondering why you should work with a company such as AVCC to apply for your benefits. After all, can’t you just apply to the VA directly to receive your benefits?
Yes, you can apply directly through the VA, but they won’t give you any personalized attention as you apply. They also won’t have a caseworker advocating for you. Instead, they will quickly find a reason to deny your benefits application, and it’s likely you won’t receive the funds to pay for home care services.
Working with AVCC to apply for benefits is like having an accountant prepare your taxes: You pay a small fee to hire a professional to work on your behalf. When they’re done, their work could save you a lot of money in the long run.

Making Home Care Accessible for Veterans
AVCC is guided by Jeanne’s mission to bring home care to Veterans who need it. That’s why we want Veterans to know about the Aid & Attendance pension benefit and home care services. If you or the Veteran in your life needs help performing daily tasks, home care is a great way to provide that assistance while allowing them to stay in their home. The home care providers we work with can help the Veteran dress, bathe, groom, prepare meals, and eat, among other tasks. We help home care providers offer these services to Veterans because we want to help Veterans maintain or even improve their quality of life.
